The first set of preface pages. My idea for the first section of the book was to put biographical materials and visuals about the theme of the book in front of the rules and artist sign-in pages. This page uses the song lyrics that are the basis for the book’s title. The compact at the lower right opens to reveal small items that Neysa might have collected from her current lover: a cigar band, the ace of hearts, a note that says “Meet me”, some pressed violets. The artwork on the left page is a real page from a 1927 Vogue magazine—I knew I’d saved them for something!
